River Belihul Oya – 500 m from Landa Holiday Home
The River Belihul Oya, just 20km in length, originates on Horton Plains National Park (1524m) high above, then flows, gushes, tumbles & drops through an assortment of eco systems all the way to into modern man-made Samanalawewa Reservoir. The river, watched over by series of mountain peaks including Gon Molliya (“The Hump of an Ox”) & Paravi (“Pigeon”), crates some very beautiful waterfalls in its downhill path. Paddy fields surrounding the settlement are fed by streams from the river.
Belihuloya is one of the best bathing spots in Sri Lanka for safe river bathing.Number of travelers both local and foreign come for bathing especially during weekends.




Belihuloya is home to the Sabaragamuwa University. This is a very picturesque and romantic place.
Bambarakanda Falls – 30 minutes drive from Landa Holiday Homes The Bambarakanda Falls is the highest waterfall of Sri Lanka measuring 790 feet. It is situated 4900 feet above the sea level. The waterfall starts from the Mahaeliya in Horton Plains The sight of the fall is still worth watching. The lush mountains surrounding the fall give it a wonderful look.
Horton Planes – one and half hour drive from Landa Holiday HomesHorton Planes is the highest plateau in the country. It has a rich biodiversity.To the tourists, nature walk in Horton Plains Nature Reserve is very popular. In the Horton Plains, you will come across Elk, Deer, Giant Squirrel, Wild Boar, Wild Hare,Porcupine, and a variety of Migratory birds, which are unique to this region. There are 16 Leopards in Horton Plains. If you are very lucky you may get a glimpse of a Leopard during your travel in the Horton Plains. The total distance of trekking in side the park is approximately of 6 kilometers



This 100 meters high dam has created a reservoir of nearly 350 sq. km. of water at the confluence of the Walawe Ganga and Belihuloya. This dam was completed in 1991 by the Japanese contractors. The still and calm waters of the Samanalawewa reservoir are perfect for canoeing. You can go for a leisurely paddle for a couple of hours in the Belihuloya River.
